Project Overview
This project for our customer in Stansted Abbots involved creating new paving throughout the garden to replace some very old concrete paving and to install a large decked area to the back of the garden, new lawn and new fencing to complete the transformation.
Preparing the Garden
The first problem we encountered was large garage in the back garden with a large expanse of concrete that we couldn’t remove as the garage was built on it.
Instead we had to make the decision to pave over the concrete, which isn’t recomended but for this project was a necessity.
Our main aim before work began was to mark out the levels. The garden was on a slope so we had to install a step for the level change up to the new paved area.
A large decked area with full width steps was to be installed at the back of the garden leading up to a summer house and a new area was dug out and paved to house a hot tub in the garden.
New fencing was needed to the boundaries to replace some old fencing that wasn’t installed properly.
Porcelain and Block Paving
To give a contemporary look we installed a mix of Marshalls block paving and London Stone block paving for the patio areas, all edged with some Marshalls driveway blocks.
An existing wall was clad to tie in with the new patio areas.
Lighting
We installed a mixture of spot lights and spike lights in the flower beds and then installed strip lights into the steps up to the decking which can be transformed into different colours which look great at night.
Decking
London Stone charcoal decking was used at the back of the garden to create a large decked area to the front and side of the summer house. This was complimented with full width decked steps with inset lighting.
Lawn and Planting
A new lawn was laid either side of the central porcelain pathway and we also created another patio area that will house a hot tub. Beds were prepared either side of the garden which the customer will plant themselves.
A really nice project and a great transformation which has really brightened up the whole are and will look great at night with the lighting.
